4. Daily Nation
The newspaper highlighted the burden placed on President William Ruto’s partners in Mount Kenya to confirm that they could support the country’s head in court.
Ruto’s influence on Mount Kenya seems to weaken since its conflict with his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, which reached the peak with the removal of the president in October last year.
A small election in the North Mbeere parliament will be the first test of the influence of the presidential partners in Mount Kenya politics, the inquisitors now believe.
Analysts argued that the minority elections would be a test for Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, UDA chairman and governor Embu Cecily Mbarire and public service minister Geoffrey Ruku, among others, who are in the position of Ruto.
If a candidate accompanied by Gachagua wins, it will signify Ruto’s back, meaning that his influence in Mount Kenya is diminishing, thus risking his re -election.
On the contrary, the candidate’s victory of UDA It would signify a great political motivation for Ruto, thus strengthening its position between the regional opposition fueled by Gachagua and its allies.
Similar results will also undermine Gachagua’s political upheaval, which increased after his removal and temporarily put him in the presence of the President in the regional authority.
