On Monday, September 22, Raila chaired the ODM MPs meeting held in Maazoni Lodge, Machakos County.
In his speech, Raila rebuked leaders who have clearly supported the president William Ruto to run for president by 2027.

He said the party would follow the law in deciding whether it would compete against Ruto in the next election.
“We are ODM. Who has told you that ODM will not have a candidate in 2027? Who told you? So first think of it as ODM. We have a clear plan we have negotiated and agreed. he added.

Sifuna said that although he did not order the party’s position on the Union, the task of the party leader, he fears that the ongoing cooperation with Ruto may waste the necessary time for preparation for ODM.
Sifuna, who is also a Nairobi senator, confirmed that ODM plans to run for president in 2027.
However, he warned that cooperating with the current government without the time or clear goals could leave the party without preparation for the intense competition.
The ODM Secretary -General has been opposed to the alliance between the former President of the Prime Minister and Ruto.
Sifuna, who is also part of the Kenyan team, said Ruto should not be re -elected for the second term in 2027.
