He had been arrested by the officials of the Criminal Investigation Directorate after he was admired at the meeting.

He was later transferred to Nairobi, where he slept.

Was Collins Kweyu released on bail?

When released on Saturday, September 20, Collins addressed reporters, saying he had been released on free bail.

“I slept at Central Police Station, Nairobi, about the story I was following by a judge. I was released in a free bond. My phones have been taken. Kweyu said.

He is expected to report to a Criminal Investigative Officer in Migori County (CCIO) on Wednesday, September 24.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Kenya Criminal Association (CJAK) and the Pictures Association (PAK) for their efforts to release his release from detention.

“I was told to report to CCio Migori on Wednesday. he added.

How was the journalist arrested?

It is said that detectives had planned to transfer to Migori, where the complainant is currently.

In fact, however, he revealed that his arrest occurred after being trapped. He allegedly received a call inviting him to a meeting at the Hot Dishes restaurant in Nairobi.

Upon arrival, the detectives are said to have confronted him and put him in custody without informing him of any charges.

The Kenyan media union (Kuj) expressed its concern about the journalist’s prevention.

Kuj Secretary -General Eric Oduo had confirmed his commitment to ensure the release of cash bail.

CJAK Secretary -General Brian Obuya said the journalist was linked to a complaint filed by Migori Judge.

The party said that Kweyu was following a case that the judge was allegedly linked to a bribe collection of KSh 10 million.

According to Obuya, the duration and manner of his arrest on Friday evening showed a negative intention and an attempt to extend the prevention of the weekend.

Authorities are also said to have searched for home and computer equipment, raising concerns that they were trying to identify its sources.

The party also issued a stern warning against any threats that could affect the life of Kwayu, referring to the story of blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang ‘, who died in detention.
