Speaking on Friday, September 12, the county leader expressed his intention to remain in electoral politics.
He suggested running for the senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
Waiguru warned his opponents, telling them that they would not stop him from going to the Senate.
However, he indicated that he would conduct a detailed consultation before making the final decision on running for the Kirinyaga senatorial seat.
“If I come to pray for another seat 2027, you will choose me? We will look at the situation and decide. Said Waiguru.
If he continues his new goal and succeeds, he will join the list of former governors who have entered the Senate.

Waiguru has served as COG chairman, and is the first woman to hold the post, for two consecutive terms after being elected in 2022 and re -elected in 2023.

He has often boasted a record of his performance for the period he served as the Governor of Kirinyaga.
Always, he has been noting the development of his government in key sectors including health, agriculture, education, business, infrastructure, and plans to empower women and youth.
On one occasion in Kutus, the county leader cited a successful completion of many development projects, such as the establishment of modern health facilities, marketing, and evolution of urban areas through the construction of stone roads.
Waiguru emphasized that agricultural production has increased significantly, resulting in three times the increase in farmers’ revenue.

He also noted that the ongoing construction of the industrial city of Sagana is a major economic step for the county.

The county leader recently advised Kirinyaga voters to elect a person with a heart to provide services as his successor.
Speaking during a congratulatory and prayer ceremony on September 4, at Kirinyaga County headquarters in Kutus, Waiguru urged residents to seek God’s guidance in electing future leaders.
He explained that he wished his successor not only to compare but to cross his achievements and continue to push for progress forward after his term ended.
Waiguru emphasized the importance of building up the progress made during his leadership and urged citizens to focus on capable leadership.
He also urged members of his county executive council who think of future public or private leadership positions, to continue to focus on their current responsibilities rather than disrupted by political ambitions by the 2027 elections.
