Why did the lawyer demand that Faith Odhiambo removed from the post of LSK President
On September 4, shortly after the LSK president was sworn in as deputy chairman of the panel, Advocate Munyeri warned that he would follow Odhiambo’s removal from his post unless he resigned from the presidential team.
The critics claimed that the structure of the panel mimics the responsibilities of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission (KNCHR), which the constitution is responsible for investigating human rights violations and ensuring justice to the affected people.
Munyeri accused Odhiambo of jeopardizing the legal freedom of the community.
He claimed that his involvement in the panel would spark a clear dispute between his responsibilities to LSK members and his role in the government -appointed board.
Munyeri also indicated that the legitimacy of the panel is under court supervision and referred to the previous incident in 2024 when Odhiambo rejected the presidential appointment of the debt inspection panel, citing constitutional issues.
Odhiambo was elected LSK’s 51st president last year, taking over from Eric Theuri.
