Red Devils were removed from the second round by the fourth league team, Grimsby Town, adding more problems to United.
United went through one of the first worst episodes in their history after the mistakes of Andre Ounana make them score two goals.
Charles Vernam defeated the Cameroon goalkeeper on his side and gave the Grimsby a goal in the 22nd minute.
Eight minutes later, Ounana was wrong to evaluate the ball in, leaving Tyrell Warren easily scoring in an empty goal.

Amorim made several changes after the break and United started to return to the game. It was not until the 75th minute when Bryan Mbeumo reduced the goal before Harry Maguire scored a header a minute before the normal time ended and forced the penalty shootout.
The shootout itself was strange, as 23 penalties were hit before the winner was found. In the first five, Kenyan Clarke Oduor, who was playing his first match, missed a penalty for Grimsby and gave United a chance to win through Matheus Cunha.
The new registration was also missed, leading the game to the “Sudden Death” process that continued until Mbeumo failed his second attempt.
After the game, Amorim looked angry and apologized to fans following the worst game at Blundell Park.
“What I just want to say is sorry to our fans. I have nothing to say anymore about the level of the game. When everything is very important in our club, and you try to do everything. You come from the preparation of the season, even Arsenalyou lose the match, but you’re there, you keep upgrading, and you see progress, but then you get this kind of match, when everything is very important to our club, ” He said through the club’s website.
The Manchester United coach then approached his players, accusing them of knowing what they wanted.
“And when you start a match this way … I think my players are talking loudly about what they want, so I’m very sorry for our fans, I have nothing to say anymore.”
