CHAN 2024: Uganda were trampled by defending champion Senegal, having to surrender orders

Senegal closed it Uganda 1-0 to remove them from the Chan 2024 Championship, and so no host remains in the tournament.

The Teranga Lions, the defending champions, scored their goal shortly after an hour to be fulfilled and to defend it boldly to ensure victory.

Fellow natives, Kenya and Tanzaniathey were released on Friday after being detained by Madagascar and Morocco respectively.

Uganda against Senegal in the first period

Uganda Cranes started vigorously at Nelson Mandela Stadium but failed to split the Senegal stronghold. Defending champions, Senegal, forced the goalkeepers to make key shootouts in advance in the game.

Cranes made the best position as the period went on, but Senegal remained strong for last -minute defense.

In the 34th minute, Abdu Karim Watambala forced Senegalese goalkeeper Marc Phillips Diouf, to make a big deal from a remote shot.

Shortly before the first period ended, Senegal asked for a penalties after Christian Gomis was played poorly in the box by Arnold Odong, but the referee did not give it.

The game was the second period

The locals started the second period with force and almost scored, after Sayne’s Senegalese Mbiahs were about to score in an attempt to get rid of the Reagan Mpande cross.

In the 62nd minute, contrary to the direction of the game, Oumar Ba slammed the ball in front of Joel Mutakubwa after receiving a clean throat and opening the scoreboard.

The Teranga Lions were being trapped for most of the second period before scoring the goal shortly after an hour.

In the 83rd minute, Cranes were about to balance, but Odong hit the gate after the ball was raised from the corner.

Uganda created a great opportunity in overtime, but it was not accepted. They were eliminated from the competition, joining their fellow Kenyan and Tanzania residents who were released on Friday.
