- DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua says the attacks of unknown youth prevented him from reaching Kamukunji for his political meeting
- Rigathi Gachagua has said attacks by unknown youth groups are why he did not arrive at Kamukunji Stadium on Thursday for his political meeting
- Gachagua said if he continued the schedule, young people who invaded his caravan on Mombasa Road would exacerbate the violence and endanger the lives of his followers
The former Deputy President emphasized that his failure to address the Kamukunji meeting was not an act of fear, but to focus on the safety of his supporters and the property of the people.

Gachagua returned to Kenya on Thursday, August 21, from the United States where he stayed for six weeks continuing his political agenda.
Deputy Leader of the Democracy For The Citizens Party (DCP), Cleophas Malala, announced that the party leader would be welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), to talk to the crowd there, and to meet his supporters on the way to his caravan.

The activity would be completed by a large meeting in the Kamukunji stadiums, where he would exchange ideas with his followers.
However, the plan was not fulfilled.
Speaking to Kameme radio on Friday, one day after returning, Gachagua said he was forced to stop The procession early for security reasons.
He claimed that the government had arranged groups of hooligans to disrupt its schedule.
The politician added that if he continued with the plan and appeared to address his followers, violence would escalate and put his life, that of his followers and the endangered property.
“My plan was to be received on the field, to talk to those in attendance, then to start a caravan via Mombasa Road to the city center, where I would hold the largest meeting in the Kamukunji stadiums,” He said.
Internal Security Minister, Kipchumba Murkomenhe condemned the attack against the caravan of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Mombasa Road.
However, the minister did not hesitate to criticize him, blaming him for not following security procedures.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, August 22, Murkomen said the chaos witnessed during the Gachaea reception would have been avoided if there was a formal arrangement.
He explained that if the organizers of the reception had notified the police in advance, the case would be directed accordingly.
He noted that security plans require clear communication between organizers of political events and security agencies.
He blamed the Gachagua team for ignoring the call to inform the authorities, warning that failure to follow the procedures is endangering supporters and the public.
Initially, the CS denied the existence of instructions to send many JKIA soldiers to control the crowd during the Gachagua reception, saying the soldiers present were performing their normal duties without asking for additional help.
