Alphonce Omija scored the first goal in the 48th minute with a header with Boniface Muchiri.
A few minutes later, Ryan Ogam thought he had scored in the second game, but the referee denied his goal after sentenced Ben Stanely for misrepresenting Malagasy player during preparation.

Madagascar’s patience eventually became fruitful after Lewis Bandi found the ball into the danger zone, giving Fenohasina Razafimaro a chance to equalize the game from the shoot.
Harambee Stars had a better chance of scoring another goal, but Madagascar’s defense stood firm, forcing the game to be extended overtime and subsequent penalty shootouts.

Speaking after the game, Kenyan head coach Benni McCarthy insisted he was proud of his team despite leaving.
“Nothing but proud. The players gave me everything. Every day I was in the gym, I can’t complain. But football is sometimes so. I would like to congratulate Madagascar for qualifying for the semi -finals. They deserve great praise.”

The Harambee Stars players thought they had scored two quick goals, but Ogam’s goal of the safe minutes was rejected by the central referee.
McCarthy expressed his sadness at the leaders’ decision in his post -match remarks, calling it a ‘soft’ decision.
