The number of deaths in a fatal Friday accident, August 8 pm on the Kisumu-Kakamega highway has increased.

The accident happened around 11pm in the evening of a 51st AIC Naki high school bus that was transporting mourners from the area Kisumu When the Nyahera turned into a neo -coptic circuit.

Eyewitnesses said that the driver seemed unable to afford while negotiating with the car to stop the road and plunged into the terrace.

Commander of the Road Safety Force in Nyanza, Peter Maina confirmed that among the deaths were ten men, ten women and an eight -month -old baby.

Preliminary reports kept the number 21, but the number had increased to 25 with more victims losing their lives due to injuries.

Who lost their lives in an accident in Kisumu?

The Secretary of the Ministry of Medical Services, Dr Ouma Oluga, confirmed the data updated at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga (Jootrh) Hospital, where injuries are being treated.

He said the number of survivors admitted to the 29 -year -old bone ward, including one child.

“So far, we can’t say much, and according to the number we have, we have lost 25 lives, and in the county here, we have 28 people and one child; which is 29 people, which puts the number of passengers on the bus 54. We will say more later as they continue,” Oluga said.

Oluga referred to the tragedy as a major loss to the region and the whole country, while urging unity in supporting injuries.

How does the government help the victims of Kisumu accident?

Oluga said that the Ministry of Health has sent more doctors and nurses, with some being brought from Nairobi to strengthen medical efforts.

“We are united in sadness and work that can save the lives of those who are still alive. As we have now evaluated how the hospital is working and we have seen that the response from our doctors was good,” He commented.

According to Oluga, the government had also put in place strategies to ensure that the victims had all the essential medications and immediate treatment.

“So far we have put in place a procedure that will allow us to treat those who are admitted here. Doctors and nurses working here have been called, and they are at work. There are also doctors from the Ministry of Health we have placed, and that is where I came from, in Nairobi, to this place,” Oluga revealed.

He also retained the reputation of the immediate action of emergency ministers, including doctors, the Kenyan Red Cross, police officers and local residents.

“We say thank you to our emergency teams from the Red Cross and thank you so much to the police and local residents who helped our staff bring everyone to our Jootrh Hospital, popularly known as Russia. We want to start a blood donation movement for those who need blood and all the medicines needed,” PS saw.
