Investigations into the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi remain ongoing, the Milimani Law Courts heard on Tuesday.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is still analysing mobile phones and other electronic devices seized from the suspects in connection with the case.
During the court session before Magistrate Mark Ekhubi, the prosecution explained that the devices had been submitted to the DCI headquarters and forensic laboratory. The data extraction process is still in progress and is expected to take up to 21 days.
“The electronic devices were taken to the DCI forensic labs, and the extraction is ongoing. We anticipate releasing the items within 21 days,” the prosecution informed the court.
All five accused: MP George Koimburi, Peter Kiratu, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Murang’a MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, appeared in court, each accompanied by legal representation.
The defence team confirmed they had received part of the prosecution’s evidence and agreed to the proposed 21-day period for full disclosure of the remaining materials.
The court also learned that both parties had reached an agreement regarding the release of motor vehicles seized during the investigation. Under the deal, the vehicles will be returned within seven days unless the investigating officers raise valid objections within that period.
Magistrate Mark Ekhubi praised the cooperation between the prosecution and the defence, saying it was helping the case progress smoothly.
He scheduled the next mention for September 10, 2025, to assess the status of evidence disclosure and confirm whether the seized electronic devices and vehicles had been returned as agreed.
