Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto’s close aide, Farouk Kibet, accusing him of disrespecting women leaders by frequently asking them to dance during public events.
While addressing residents in his constituency on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Amisi didn’t hold back. He criticised what he called a growing and “demeaning” political culture where female leaders are introduced to crowds with dance routines instead of being recognised for their contributions and intellect.
“Lakini unapata female leaders; instead of empowering fellow women, they are busy empowering Farouk Kibet. What nonsense is that? Hayo ni Mambo gani? Ati sasa mtu ambaye wameempower ni Farouk Kibet, anatembea akiwambia wazunguke. Hao ni mabibi wa watu bana, tunaambia Farouk Kibet Wachana na bibi za watu,” Amisi said.
Amisi told Kibet to stop using public spaces to turn serious leadership moments into spectacles. He explained that these women are not only leaders but also wives, mothers, and professionals who should be accorded dignity, not performers on stage.
He noted that the affirmative action and two-thirds gender rule were put in place to empower women to lead and lift others up, not dance for agents of politics. According to Amisi, these policies should protect the integrity and purpose of women’s leadership, not open the door to humiliation.
“Wale wamama viongozi amabao tulifikiria watakuja kushughulikia mambo ya empowerment ya Wamama. The reason for having affirmative action and the two-thirds gender rule was to empower women so that they can empower fellow women,” Amisi said.
The MP urged women leaders to remain keen on their mandates and warned against engaging in activities that would weaken their image in the public eye and devalue their voice in policymaking. He dared them to become inspiring and motivating leadership, not just fronts.
Amisi Praises Wamuchomba
Amisi also singled out Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was present at the event, for her refusal to participate in such practices. He praised her courage and firmness in upholding what she believes in despite having to go against government positions.
“Lakini huyu Wamuchomba amekataa; she is the only lady amesimama Central na serikali ikienda mbaya anasema ni mbaya; we respect you, Wamuchomba; do not get tired,” Amisi said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
The Saboti MP wrapped up by calling on all women leaders to rise above theatrics and fight for meaningful representation that honors the spirit of gender equality and public service.
