Amisi, a strong supporter of ODM, expressed frustration over the party’s incomprehensible position since entering into a plan to work with the UDA government Ruto.
Why will Amisi move ODM?
He said the ODM must reorganize it with its basic principles or the risk of losing loyal members and supporters.
“I was elected for an ODM ticket for five years. If the party continues to cooperate with Ruto, I will not be elected again under its flag. Amisi said.
He criticized the internal confusion within the ODM, saying it had left members and supporters uncertain about the party’s direction.
“ODM must make a decision now, because there is confusion even among its followers, who disagree with the idea of a broad view. Otherwise, there is nothing to enjoy in this government,” He said.
Amisi accused some of the people within the party for capturing it for personal benefit, claiming they were proud to ‘enjoy the government’ while pressing on Ruto’s support for a period of time – even proposing a constitutional amendment to strengthen their influence.
“We have gone through so many things as a country for anyone to propose to change the constitution,” He warned.
Has Amisi met Ruto?
The open -minded politician emphasized that he had never met Ruto – not his time as deputy president, not time to shake hands, and even after the 2022 elections.
He emphasized his political principles remain unchanged and that he cannot easily change trust.
Addressing Kenyan youth who focus on politics, especially Gen Z protesters, Amisi asked them to stop entering the streets and instead form or join political parties, hold elected positions, and bring about change from within the system.
“If Ruto wins again, will young people return to the road and face death again? In the future, it can be worse – he won’t lose anything.”
Does ODM face a challenge?
ODM has been struggling with the rise of internal divisions following the formation of a broader government.
The tensions escalated to conflicts between government supporters and those who oppose the cooperation between ODM and Ruto.
Recently, the party’s general secretary Edwin Sifuna He acknowledged the party was facing problems and said it had been difficult to define ODM’s position on national issues since signing the MoU with the UDA government.
