Earlier, Supreme Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi, in a decision, found police officers Constable Reuben Yator and Godwine Wekesa Sirengo guilty of killing Dennis Lusava, marking a major responsibility for the deaths of people in Kenya.

Lusava was last seen under their protection before his body was discovered in the Nzoia River.

The ruling, which was originally scheduled to release July 19 following the July 4 judgment, was postponed due to the absence of reduced submissions.

What happened before the killing of Dennis Lusava?

The court heard that on October 4, 2022, Lusava confronted the two officers in the city of Mbururu, which was interrupted by the public.

Three days later, in a state of revenge, it is said that the soldiers used a man they knew to lure Lusava to the Mbururu police station, where he was arrested and ‘closed in the window.’

In detention, Lusava, 21, was brutally attacked by strikes, kicks, and electrical cables.

His mother, Agnes Ambale, visited the center and found her seriously injured. Despite his requests, he was told to return to KSh 2,000 to be released.

Later, Lusava tried to seek treatment but was forcefully sent back to the police station.

The doctor who testified in court remembered hearing his cries of pain before he remained silent.

The officers were allegedly transporting Lusava’s body to Webuye, where they threw it into the Nzoia River.
