Nation Today reported that the student died on Sunday, July 20, during a football game at school.
How did a Kakamega High School student die?
Kakamega Central Police Commander, Vincent Cherutich, confirmed the incident and said the student, known by name David Owuorhe knocked on the ball to the head, fell and lost consciousness.
According to the police officer, his classmates tried to give him first aid, but he did not wake up.

Oduor was rushed to Kakamega County Central Hospital, where he was announced that he had died when he arrived.
“His classmates tried to give him first aid but he did not wake up, they had to take him to a school clinic where he was given first aid, but he still did not return to consciousness,” Said Cherutich.
Commenting on the incident, the headmaster of the school Julius Mambili revealed that the deceased had no health problems identified by the school.
Mambili referred to Oduor as a lively student loved by everyone at school.
The school principal called on the school community to remain calm as police investigations continue to determine the full cause of the death.
“The deceased was a cheerful student who had a moderate performance. Said Mambili.
