Sacked Gor Mahia Coach Lands New Role at Newly Promoted Outfit

Michael Nam has landed a new role after being sacked from Gor Mahia.

Newly promoted FKF Premier League side APS Bomet have confirmed the appointment of Michael Ouma Nam as their new head coach, just days after his exit from Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia.

Nam was part of a sweeping technical bench overhaul at Gor Mahia, which also saw the departure of interim coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno.

However, his brief unemployment was swiftly ended with the announcement from the Bomet-based outfit, who are looking to make an impact in their debut season in the top flight.

“We’ve officially appointed Michael Ouma Nam as our new Head Coach. Formerly with Gor Mahia, Coach Nam brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the league that we believe will elevate our team to new heights,” read a statement from APS Bomet on X (formerly Twitter).

Nam replaces Evans Mafuta, who led APS Bomet to Premier League promotion but will now take up the role of assistant coach.

According to the club, this move aligns with FKF Premier League regulations that require top-flight teams to have a CAF ‘A’ licensed coach at the helm.

Coach Mafuta, who holds a CAF ‘B’ license, remains a key figure in the technical team.
