Kenyan entrepreneur and influencer Huddah Monroe has expressed deep disappointment and emotional pain over what she describes as the ongoing neglect of Kenyans striving for positive change.

In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram stories on Monday, July 7, 2025, Huddah said that she felt sad and hurt seeing ordinary citizens invest their energy and hope into building a better Kenya, as their calls for progress fall on deaf ears.

“Sad, hurt when I see how people have really tried to fight for a better Kenya, and it falls on deaf ears,” Huddah said.

Huddah’s heartfelt sentiment comes in the wake of the recent tragedy.

The beauty mogul further expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives during recent protests.

“RIP to all who have lost their lives,” she added.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Police Reforms Working Group have expressed particular concern about the deployment of heavily armed, masked officers in unmarked vehicles, which violates court orders requiring police to be identifiable.

Citing Ngong Town, Kajiado, where the highest death toll of three occurred, the joint statement issued on Monday evening highlighted that such units were reportedly seen using military-grade weapons.

“Heavily armed police with military grade weapons were deployed in violation of court orders, using masks and unmarked vehicles to conceal their identities. We noted several arbitrary arrests of boda boda riders, the use of water cannons, particularly in Kitengela and Kikuyu and tear gas in Doonholm, Nairobi and the deployment of Kenya Defence Force Officers in Kayole, Naivasha,” the statement reads.
