Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has appointed former Tana River County Governor Hussein Dado to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Board of Trustees, days after revoking the appointment of former Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
In a gazette notice dated July 4, 2025, Mbadi appointed Dado to serve for a period of three years, effective immediately.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— HUSSEIN DADO to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th July, 2025,” the notice read.
President Ruto thanked
Amina Dika Abdullahi, the Tana River County Woman Representative, took to her official X account to thank President William Ruto for Dado’s appointment.
“Congratulations to His Excellency Amb. Hussein Tuneya Dado on his appointment as Chairman of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board. We sincerely thank President William Ruto for once again recognizing and rewarding the son of Tana River County. We do not take this trust for granted and are committed to supporting his leadership in this important role for the betterment of our community and the nation,” she stated.

Wangamati fired
This comes just a week after Mbadi revoked Wangamati’s appointment.
In an official Gazette Notice, the CS noted that the revocation took effect on Friday, June 27, marking a total tenure of one year and 19 days in the position.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wyclifee Wafula Wangamati as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from June 27, 2025,” the notice read in part.
The chairperson of the Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the scheme’s management and administration, while also guiding the overall strategic direction of the PSSF.
Wangamati was appointed to chair the Board in June 2024 by former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u.
He was set to serve for three years after his appointment.
