Pastor T Mwangi has revealed plans by his church to purchase a property valued at Ksh130 million as part of a major expansion initiative.

Speaking during a financial podcast aired on July 4, the city-based preacher explained that the project, though involving a significant amount of money, will be entirely financed by the church congregation through voluntary giving.

He emphasised that this has been the practice within the ministry and that the believers have consistently supported such initiatives in the past.

The preacher highlighted that the principle of building places of worship through freewill giving is rooted in both biblical history and modern-day church practice.

From the construction of the Tabernacle in the Old Testament to present-day church projects, the responsibility has always rested with the faithful to give willingly towards the work of the ministry.

“We are currently purchasing a property where we want to set the church at Ksh130 million. When you come to church, you might think these guys are just here saying ‘give, give,’ but there is no other way to raise money for that church project other than the free will giving of the people,” Pastor T said.

The planned property acquisition, according to Pastor T, will be no different. The church will rely solely on the generosity of its members, contributing progressively until the entire amount is raised and the project is fully completed.

“Because that is how the kingdom is designed: every kingdom project is done through free will. From Exodus, they were building the tabernacle; the Lord said, ‘Ask my people to give an offering willingly,” he added.

Money laundering

On the same podcast, Pastor T recounted how someone once contacted him with a proposal to launder money through his church.

The plan involved mixing illicit funds with church offerings and then splitting the proceeds between the two parties.

The individual behind the scheme claimed the money involved was substantial and promised that the entire operation would be conducted discreetly without raising suspicion.

“There was a time someone called me and told me, ‘I see you have a church project; we can wash money,’ and the kind of money this person was telling me we were going to make was good money,” Pastor T said.

According to Pastor T, the person then assured him that there would be no risks and that security would be guaranteed. Despite the tempting offer, he firmly rejected the idea.

“And the person said everything was covered by security; nobody would know. Mix it with the offering, give us our cut, and you get your cut,” he stated.

He went on to explain that, having been in ministry for years, he is committed to building a legacy of integrity. His goal, he said, is to leave behind clean and honest wealth for his children, no matter how modest, because it carries true blessing.

“I want to hand over wealth and inheritance to my children that is legit and genuine and something that I know will bring blessings to them, no matter how small it may be,” he added.
