Kenyan YouTuber Diana Daisy, popularly known as Gau, has been on a captivating journey across Papua New Guinea for close to two months now.

She has been creating immersive content and interacting with some of the most culturally rich and indigenous communities of the tiny island nation nestled along the southwestern rim of the Pacific Ocean.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, Diana found herself in East New Britain province, and her first stop at a remote town known as Kokopo turned unexpectedly eventful after she was approached by two strapping young men who, judging from their commanding height and mature demeanour, she initially thought were eligible bachelors fit to be husbands.

However, in what quickly turned into a light-hearted but disappointing twist, the two men revealed to her that they were still in school — one aged just 21 and the other 24, much to Diana’s astonishment.

In a video shared on her Facebook page, Diana could be seen taken completely aback, exclaiming with animated disbelief that she had already allowed her mind to imagine romantic possibilities, only to be reminded that looks can be deceiving.

She remarked that their towering physiques and hardened facial features had completely misled her into thinking they were older men, perhaps in the stage of life where seeking life partners would be the natural next step.

“What is the name of this city, Kokopo? Oh my God, you are students? Even you, are you a student? Oh no, I already had hopes. Small boys, you look like big boys. How old are you? You mean 24 and 21? Oh no,” she said, her voice trailing into laughter laced with surprise.

The YouTuber, who has quickly become beloved in the Pacific region for her spontaneous interactions and bold curiosity, went on to joke that instead of being a potential suitor, she may only qualify to be their ‘big mother’, now that the age gap had outed her initial excitement.

In her typical witty style, Diana could be heard posing a cheeky question to the young men, asking whether they would be open to dating women older than them. One of them gave a firm no, while the other chuckled and said he would — but only if the woman in question was her.

“I am your big mother. I had hopes for you, then I lost hope. Can you marry or date women older than you?” Diana posed with a smile.

“For me, no, I cannot date or marry older women at all,” one of the boys responded.

“Well, for me, I can, if it is you… Yeah,” the other replied, leaving Diana in stitches.

She ended the interaction by laughing heartily and expressing that she had been thoroughly amazed at how young men in the region often looked far older than their years, a trait she said made it difficult to judge age accurately.

“Age is just a number anyway. Thank you so much, guys. This is how East New Britain guys look — old but young,” Diana said.
