Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has launched a scathing attack on blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia and civil society activists, accusing them of staging abductions to attract public sympathy and foreign donor funding.
In a strongly worded statement on his X official account on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Cherargei dismissed Ndiangui’s recent claims that he had been detained by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), calling the allegations misleading and staged.
“Ndiangui must apologise to Kenyans for misleading that Directorate of Criminal Investigations was holding him, yet he was hiding and safe. Even Judge Mwita should swallow his words which he did for sensational fame,” Cherargei said.
The Senator’s remarks come in the wake of rising concerns over reported abductions of bloggers and human rights defenders. However, Cherargei believes some of the incidents are orchestrated for ulterior motives.
“Most of these abductions are self-done so that the busybodies activists can evoke emotions and get funding from their masters and donors who want to destabilise the peace and stability of the country,” he claimed.

According to Cherargei, the growing trend is part of a deliberate strategy by activists to manipulate public sentiment and create political tension.
“The activists’ strategy is simple self-abduct, then raise emotions with an aim of creating crisis in the country to get more funding to finance their selfish desires,” he said.
He further warned that such tactics risk undermining national unity and public trust in democratic institutions. Cherargei called on the judiciary and human rights defenders to act responsibly and avoid playing into what he described as manipulative schemes aimed at destabilising Kenya.
DCI boss in court
Meanwhile, the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, has arrived at the Milimani High Court over the disappearance of a social media blogger.
The Milimani High Court had ordered the DCI boss to appear in person in court over the Kinoo activist’s disappearance.
Issuing the order on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Justice Chacha Mwita directed Amin to appear before the court on Thursday, July 3, 2025, to explain the whereabouts of missing Kinoo blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia.
“I direct the Director of Criminal Investigations to attend court in person on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11 AM to explain the whereabouts of the second petitioner (Ndiangui Kinyagia). This matter will be mentioned on that day at the same time for further directions,” Justice Mwita ruled.
