Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has touched down in Kisumu ahead of a crucial two-day campaign tour targeting the Western Kenya region.

Together with Wiper Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition heads, they have officially kicked off the western tour, seeking to listen to the people and tackle their challenges.

Furthermore, they have also expressed optimism ahead of their tour of the western region, describing it as a critical step towards building a united and formidable political front ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking after the arrival on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Kalonzo Musyoka expressed confidence in the tour.

“We, the United Opposition, want to make it clear that we are walking this journey together, to listen to the people, tackle their challenges, and strengthen unity under the Wantam Movement. To those peddling lies about the Opposition funding goons, stop insulting the intelligence of Kenyans. We all know the chaos is State-sponsored. Let it also be categorically clear: We will not be silenced. We will not be distracted. The people are watching, and so are we.”

The initiative is being driven by key opposition figures aiming to capitalise on growing discontent over governance and economic hardships.

In a post on his X official account on Thursday, July 3, 2025, before the coalition’s scheduled engagements in Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia and Vihiga counties, former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka shared a strong and energetic message, asserting that the time has come to challenge what he called the current administration’s failures and mismanagement of public resources.

Apart from Musyoka, accompanying Gachagua are several senior opposition leaders, including former powerful Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Defence), Fred Matiang’i (Interior), and Justin Muturi (Public Service), who have similarly expressed optimism ahead of the United Opposition’s tour of the western Kenya region.

This political charm offensive will be the third significant foray by the coalition after previous tours of Ukambani and the Coast region, where the opposition leaders sustained their push to unseat President William Ruto in the next poll.
