The Police have arrested a person of interest linked to a robbery with violence incident reported at Parklands Police Station on June 28, 2025.

In a statement issued by the police on Thursday, July 3, 2025, they confirmed that the arrest marks a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

“Following a report of a robbery with violence on June 28, 2025, at Parklands Police Station, officers have made a significant breakthrough,” read part of the police statement.

Police said that after pursuing several leads, the investigators managed to identify a vehicle claimed to have been used in the commission of the crime. The person was traced and arrested in Eldoret town on July 2, 2025.

“A silver Toyota Axio was recovered from the suspect. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a reflector jacket, police headdress with a white cover, and two different vehicle registration plates,” police revealed.

The person of interest and the recovered items were escorted back to Parklands Police Station for further processing. Police have not yet released the identity of the suspect, but investigations are ongoing to determine whether additional suspects may have been involved in the incident.

The sleuths are still conducting the investigations to establish more grounds on the case and bring to book persons of interest involved in the case and the gang that has been terrorising the residents.

“The National Police Service commends the swift action taken by investigators and reiterates its commitment to protecting and serving the public,” read the statement.

“Further updates are expected as the investigation develops and the suspect is processed through the justice system.”

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as the police continue their efforts to ensure safety and security in the community.

Parkland robbery

Detectives are on the trail of a criminal gang that has been targeting and robbing motorists who are ambushed after making Bank cash withdrawals, with the latest incident happening on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Patel Kashyap Kantibha had just withdrawn Ksh999,000 from I&M Bank along 1st Parklands Avenue when he lost his cash to the gang.

The victim was in a Toyota Cienda car towards Avenue Hospital when he was blocked by a Toyota Axio vehicle. A CCTV footage from an adjacent building shows two men, one in police uniform resembling that of a traffic officer, jumping out and confronting Patel.

The criminal in police uniform is seen approaching Patel, who was on the steering wheel, before forcing the door open as his accomplices, who appears to be armed and donning a black jacket and blue trousers, head to the co-driver’s side where the money in a khaki envelope had been kept under the seat.

In the 41-second clip, the getaway car, whose registration number plate was not captured, is seen making a U-turn as the two robbers attack the victim.

Patel told police the getaway vehicle had five occupants, adding that he was hit on the right shoulder by the gangster who was armed with what appeared to be a pistol.

After grabbing the money, the robbers sped towards Limuru Road. Police on Sunday said efforts are being made to trace the notorious.

According to Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) Benson Kasyoki, three similar incidents have been reported in the recent past.

“The first incident was reported last year, and through profiling, we have established the gang whose ring leader masquerades as a traffic police officer,” Kasyoki said.
