Mumias East constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has shared a heartfelt and humorous message about his son.
Taking to his official Instagram account on the night of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Salasya shared his joy over how fast his son is growing, complete with a playful declaration that he’s willing to cancel his 2027 presidential campaigns just to be there for his little boy’s haircut.
According to Luhya traditions, a child is supposed to be taken to the father’s home to have his/her grandmother shave his/her first hair.
“My boy is growing big ooooh. This is so beautiful. Aki nywele imekuwa kubwa mulete home. I am going to cancel my presidential campaigns to make sure wananyoa yeye nikikuwa the moment mamake anamuleta,” Salasya wrote on Instagram.
Salasya on his son’s looks
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker went ahead to state that his son looks just like him and reflected on the moment he met the child’s mother.
“Aki ka boys kamenifanana – imagine it was my first meeting with his mother. 😄 🤣 😂 😆 It was just jokes and waaaaah kumbe inakuwanga tu hivyo kiurahisi,” Salasya stated.
Salasya’s post also carried a deep personal touch, as he shared his long-held dream of fatherhood, joking that his dream was to have at least 12 children, but he somehow started siring children late.
“I bless this boy as the father. My dream was that one day I would be the father of 12 children, but nilichelewa,” he stated.

Face reveal
On Thursday, June 12, Salasya posted a heartwarming video on his Instagram, showing his son in a blue onesie lying on his bed.
In his caption, Salasya pointed out his son’s nose, noting how much he misses him and would like him to visit his rural home to be shaved, as per his culture.
The MP added that he does not need a DNA test, as his son shares the same skin colour, and he has, therefore, agreed to raise him. Salsya also disclosed how he met his son’s mother, noting that it was during last year’s Gen Z protests.
“Mapua ya huyu mtoto ni ya Waluhya. Inafaa sasa mama ya mtoto amulete home wamunyoe nywele as per the culture. Ni mweupe kama mimi huyu. Aki huyu hata DNA sitaki. Nimekubali he turning about 4 months. Nilipatana na mamake wakati wa Gen Z protest,” he wrote.
