ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo is showing Kenyans how to take a joke in stride.
On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Kabogo shared a hilarious caricature of himself on his official X account. The image was drawn by a young Kenyan artist who was inspired by a viral photo of the CS that had made the rounds on social media earlier in May 2025.
In his post, he described the caricature as a masterpiece and praised the young artist for their creativity. He said what started as social media banter had been transformed into a beautiful and funny piece of art. He also used the moment to reflect on the power of Kenya’s digital economy, not just in terms of technology and infrastructure but also in the richness of culture, talent, and expression.
“From viral to visual, what began as social media banter has now been immortalised in a beautiful, hilarious caricature, courtesy of a brilliant young Kenyan creative! When the internet hands you memes, turn them into masterpieces,” Kabogo said.
Adding;
“This artwork is proof that our digital economy isn’t just about tech and infrastructure, it’s also about talent, culture and bold expression. Thank you for the gift and the laughs!”
The caricature is based on a now-famous photo of Kabogo dressed in a rather unexpected outfit. He wore a crisp white shirt and tie, paired with khaki trousers, brightly striped socks, and tan safari boots.
The unusual fashion choice caught the attention of the internet, with thousands of Kenyans sharing memes, jokes, and reactions.

Kabogo’s name trended across the country as many netizens laughed, poked fun, and even applauded his bold look. Rather than shy away from the spotlight or get offended, the ICT boss embraced the moment and turned it into an opportunity to highlight Kenya’s creative talent.
In an earlier comment on the viral photo, he had already made it clear that he was taking everything in good humour, saying he was enjoying the attention and joking that if people weren’t making memes about you, then you should be concerned.
“I’m enjoying it. If no one makes such, you need to be very worried.”
