The Kenyan opposition outfit, under the umbrella of the People’s Loyal Opposition Coalition, is set to take its foray to the western region of the country in a move to consolidate support and popularise itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, revealed that the leaders allied to the camp will embark on a two-day tour of the vote-rich region starting on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
He will be joined by the Democracy for Citizens Party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, former Attorney General Justin Muturi, Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP_K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, among other leaders.
“Looking forward to the United Opposition Western Tour, which begins tomorrow in Luanda Town, Vihiga County,” Kalonzo statement on X read.
Entourage
According to the former VP, the itinerary for the first day will cover the regions of Vihiga and Kakamega County.
The entourage will pass through Luanda, Mbale in Vihiga, before traversing part of Kakamega County, including Malava, Kakamega Town, Navakholo, and Mumias.
The announcement comes after the conclusion of the opposition forays in Naork County on June 30, 2025, where the party was mobbed by a jubilant crowd.

Prior to the Narok rally, the opposition camp had pitched camp in Ukambani and coastal regions in the fag end of June, 2025, where the now famous cousin’s slogan was born.
Meanwhile, the function will mark a return to western Kenya for the Democracy for Citizen Party, whose planned rally at the end of May, 2025 was cut short by violent scenes.
The newly formed party’s popularisation campaign in Kakamega town ended in disarray after police used tear gas to disperse crowds that had gathered to witness the event in Kakamega on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
DCP’s aborted rally
Cleophas Malala, the deputy party leader, and Nyandarua Senator John Methu and his Kiambu counterpart, Karung’o Thang’wa, were among those caught in the melee as police lobbed tear gas to disperse crowds.
The former senator was scheduled to host his party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, in the region as part of the party’s popularisation initiative following its unveiling on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Gachagua, however, did not attend the function.
