Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has hit back at criticism directed at him as being a ‘yes man’ to President William Ruto.

Speaking during an empowerment drive in Hola, Tana River County, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the DP vowed to remain in subjection to the president and the citizens of Kenya, terming the latter as the ultimate employers of all political leaders.

The DP also took a swipe at those opposed to him being loyal to the president, alluding to it being the genesis of some of their political predicaments.

Yes Sir

“Nauliza nyinyi iko makosa Deputy President kuambia Rais, ‘Yes sir? Si hata Joho anaambia rais, ‘Yes sir. Si ivo ndio inatakikakana?

Hao watu wa kiburi waambiwe io ndio iliwashinda na ndio maana wanaongea wakiwa msituni.Kile hawajui ni hata wananchi nawaambia yes sir kwa maana hao ndio wanaajiri hadi rais. Mimi nitaendelea kusema “yes sir” kwa maana wananchi ndio wanaamua,”

“Let me ask you, is there a problem with being a ‘yes sir’ man to the president? Even Joho tells the president, Yes, sir. Is that not how it’s supposed to be?” He posed.

“The rest with bloated egos must be reminded that that is what they failed to do, and it is the reason why they are in oblivion now,” he added.

“What they don’t know is that I also tell the citizens, ‘Yes, sir’ too, since they are the ones who employ all of us, including the president,” he stated.

This comes after Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana took a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by calling him out over his divisive politics during his tenure as the country’s second deputy president.

Speaking at the same function, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana took a swipe at the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his divisive politics while serving as the country’s second DP.

The former MP termed Gachagua’s tenure a national embarrassment.

Shame of a president

“We have now embraced Kindiki as a good neighbour who has visited us frequently. He is also a fitting and proper DP. The former was a shame of a president. He used to claim and say that the coastal region is not in his plans, and so on. His plans were only shares of the people from his backyard,” he stated.

“It is the reason why we said we will impeach him and control him, but (Mwengi) Mutuse came up with a motion that got him impeached. We want to build a Kenya that is united, but he (Wamunyoro) wanted to chain us with chains of tribalism. It is why we are now united and heading in one direction as coastal leaders,” the former Garsen MP stated.
