Police in Narok East Sub-County have seized 600 brooms of cannabis sativa (bhang) following a dramatic high-speed chase on the evening of July 1, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the National Police Service announced that officers from Ntulele Police Station had intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado suspected of transporting narcotics from Kisii to Nairobi.
“The driver ignored police orders to stop, prompting a high-speed chase along the Narok–Mai Mahiu Highway. The vehicle was later found abandoned along the Nairegie Enkare feeder road after developing mechanical problems. It’s two occupants fled into nearby maize plantations and are still at large,” read the statement in part.
Further, the NPS revealed that the vehicle and drugs are now secured at Ntulele Police Station as investigations continue.

The National Police Service commended the public for their vigilance and urged continued cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.
Kakamega
This comes a week after police officers in Kakamega intercepted a vehicle transporting packages of bhang. Officers from Matungu police station stopped the vehicle during a routine patrol along the Matungu–Busia Road.
The vehicle was intercepted and searched at Matungu Market.
During the search, officers discovered a brown briefcase containing two polythene-wrapped packages.

“Upon inspection, the packages were found to hold a dry, leafy substance suspected to be cannabis sativa,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement on X on June 22, 2025.
The suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody pending arraignment.
The recovered items have been secured as evidence at the same station.
“NPS remains committed to combating drug trafficking and related crimes through intelligence-led operations and enhanced patrols to dismantle criminal networks involved in the distribution of illicit substances.”
In collaboration with the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), police have intensified efforts to curb the growing menace of drug abuse and illicit alcohol across the country.
The crackdown has been hailed as a critical first step in reclaiming the country from the grip of drug-related crime.
