Actor Tyler Mbaya has candidly shared how the recent leak of his private videos, an event that could have shattered anyone’s spirit, has instead ignited a new level of self-confidence and personal empowerment within him.
Speaking openly about the experience in a video shared on his TikTok page on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Mbaya reflected on how he now carries himself with a fearless attitude, especially in professional spaces.
“These days, I walk around wondering, ‘Did Mama Mboga see those videos?’” he began, using the phrase to personify the everyday people who might have witnessed the controversy.
He then emphasised the transformation he has undergone, declaring that there is a level of self-confidence he possesses today that is truly unmatched.
“But like, bro, there is some self-confidence that I have nowadays that is so unmatched,” Mbaya said.
This newfound assurance, he said, allows him to enter boardrooms and public spaces without fear of judgment or scrutiny.
According to him, the leakage of the videos has stripped away any illusion of privacy, since most of the people he meets have likely seen it all, leaving him with no reason to hide or carry fear.
“Walking into a boardroom and not caring—that is the kind of confidence I am talking about,” he explained.
Mbaya further elaborated on the different reactions he has noticed from various people around him since the videos went viral.
He mentioned that some individuals, like ‘Mama Mboga’, a figure he used symbolically for those unaffected by the leaks, show no concern or reaction.
In contrast, he noted that men, in particular, tend to be more critical and often leave harsh comments on his social media posts.
“That is why I brought up Mama Mboga. When she sees it, it is not a big deal. But a man sees it and starts commenting on my posts. Wah!” Mbaya said.
Impact on kid
At the same time, Tyler reflected on the possible emotional toll the leaked videos could have on his daughter, Astra Kamau, admitting that he is fully aware she might one day come across them and question him about it.
However, he expressed confidence in his readiness to have an honest conversation with her when the time comes, stating that he wants to handle the matter responsibly and ensure both he and his child find peace with it.
“The truth is that stuff no longer bothers me. The only thing that weighs on me a little is the fact that in future, I will have to sit down and have a conversation with my child. Because I know one day, she will come and ask me about it.”
