Khaingah, who rescued Student Police Emily Kanyi from a crowd of angry protesters during a commemoration of the Memorial, appears to explain what prompted her to take action in the midst of chaos.

The 28 -year -old spoke uniquely with TUKO.co.ke after police officer Sammy Ondimu launched a public search for him and thanked him.

In the story of many emotions, Khaingah explained that he was reluctant to emerge in fear of the political situation in the country.

“The state of the country is fragile, and the protest can suddenly change. I was afraid what would happen if I introduced myself,” He admitted.

Khaingah said he joined the protest with the intention of paying homage to the victims of police brutality for flowering, not for violence.

“I’ve lived in a violent environment originally, and I avoid conflict because I know how dangerous it can be,” He said.

What happened before Emily Kanyi attacked?

During the protest, he saw police officers guarding a building and saw no threat at first. However, when he saw Kanyi fall and the crowd surrounded him, he quickly went to help him.

“Initially, I saw police officers standing near the building – they seemed calm and were not a threat. When the protests began to have a lot of movement and people run away, I saw them again. Luck Bad one of them – female officers – was left behind. He was struck by a stone on his leg and fell.

I expected the coming protesters to help him, but they didn’t, then I felt that he had to go back and protect him. I felt the pain. ”

“He was alone, he had no help, and he would be my sister or my mother,” He added, saying that despite being a protesters, he believed others would not harm him because they were on one side.

According to the hero, he tried to use the officer’s hat to protect him from further injuries, but another protester took it and ran with it.

When others began to throw stones, he continued to remain close to him, preventing more injuries especially in the head.

One boda boda tried to take him to a motorcycle to take him to the hospital, but the motorcycle was hit and collapsed. However, the ambulance arrived later and rushed him to the hospital.

Did Khaingah ever be warned not to join the protest?

Khaingah, who recently started working in the warehouse, revealed that his family warned him to be careful due to anxiety in the country.

After his story spread across the internet, friends warned him not to announce his identity because of his safety.

“My parents do not use social networks, but before the protest, my father phoned me and advised me to be careful after telling him that I was in town. After the incident, my sister and other friends told me to be careful because of the current situation,” He revealed.

In telecommunications, Officer Sammy Ondimu spoke to Khaingah and agreed to meet face -to -face.

Ondimu praised Khaingah for the bravery His and assured him had not made any mistake. He also promised to reward him personally and arrange a meeting with Officer Kanyi.

The compassionate officer explained that since starting the search, he had received numerous messages from people who mistakenly claimed that they were the ones who rescued Kanyi, which made him a hard time recognizing the right.

Woman loses teeth during protest

In another statement, a woman suffered serious injuries in the mouth after being hit by a tear -raised church by police near the GPO center during protests.

His fellow protesters helped him with the first aid before lifting him to the bodaboda and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
