Kenya Power announces planned outage in parts of 3 counties on June 30

Kenya Power has announced that parts of Kericho, Nyamira, and Embu counties will experience scheduled power interruptions on Monday, June 30, 2025. The company said the blackout will allow for essential maintenance work on the power network to ensure a better and more reliable electricity supply.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (30th June 2025). The interruption is part of network maintenance. …To access the latest schedule, check under the most recent date,” the company said in a message shared on their official customer care X account on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Kericho County

In Kericho County, the affected areas include Kaptalamwa, Kenegut, Letting, Sitotwet, Kaitui, Kiplogoi, Chepkoiniik, Kabokyeek, Machorwa, Chepsoo, and nearby customers.

The blackout will begin at 8:30 am and end at 5:00 pm.

Nyamira County

Residents in Nyamira Town and Kebirigo will also be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on the same day.

Places affected include the entire Nyamira Town, Referral Hospital, Kinara Hospital, Rangenyo Mission, Nyamaiya Market, Miruka Market, Kebirigo Tea Factory, Sang’any’i Tea Factory, Sironga Girls, Marindi, Makairo Market, Kiabonyoru and surrounding areas.

Embu County

In Embu County, the scheduled power outage will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The affected locations are Gotv Booster, Ngemi Millers, Kithimu Market, St. Teresa’s, Mwangaza, Kiandundu, Ena Market, Kawanjaru, Rukira, Limbua Ena Facility, Ndatu, Kivwe Market, Muruatetu, Mbukori, Manyatta TIVET, Makengi, Karingari, Nembure, Kevote and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has encouraged residents and businesses in the listed areas to prepare in advance for the temporary disruption. The company has also provided a link for customers to view the full and most recent maintenance schedule.

Such planned maintenance is part of Kenya Power’s efforts to improve the efficiency and stability of the national electricity network. While the outages may cause temporary inconvenience, the upgrades are aimed at reducing future unplanned outages and improving service delivery.
