In this case, the gospel singer was sentenced to death for the brutal murder of his girlfriend.
The judgment was read on Thursday, June 25, led by Judge Simon Aboki.
The singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, was found guilty of killing Salome Abida, who was a member of the National Youth Service (NYSC).
According to Vanguard News, Ajayi also cut off Abadu’s body in a judgment issued in Lafia High Court, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
Police arrested the gospel singer after being found with Salome’s head cut off on Sunday, January 12, near the church in the Orozo area.
A video circulating online showed Ajayi interviewed by people gathered, where he claimed Salome was his girlfriend and had been married for about a year.
However, Salome’s family denied the allegations.
According to police, Ajayi allegedly killed Salome when he visited his home in Papalana, New Karshi, in Karu sub -county, Nasarawa State.
Ajayi was found with the supposed weapons he used to carry out the crime, including knife and swords.

Salome’s family expresses their feelings after judgment
Patience Unekwuoojo, one of the family members, spoke to BBC Pidgin after the court ruling.
She explained that although nothing could bring her sister back, she felt that justice had been done.
He said that God is responsible for everything.
He added that Salome had major plans for the future, including the professional course he had started at Nicon’s insurance company. Salome was 24 years old.
Salome’s mother also expressed her sadness, saying that she considered Salome as her dead husband, and promised to seek justice for her daughter.
How the Ajayi case went on
After Ajayi was arrested as the chief suspect of the Salome murder, the case was filed in court.
Adaiid’s family wanted justice to be done as they mourned their daughter sadly.
The court began hearing the case, with the judge insisting that the case be heard immediately due to its importance to the nation.
Ajayi denied all the charges. The case continued until March 2025, and the date of the hearing was scheduled for March 17 to 20, 2025.
The final judgment gave Ajayi the punishment of hanging to death.

In another statement, Kenyan Joseph Irungu famous Jowie was sentenced to death.
Judge Grace Nzioka announced the ruling on March 13, 2024, following the conviction on February 9, 2024, at the murder of businessman Monica Kimani in September 2018.
