Dancehall artiste Arrow Bwoy and rapper Khaligraph Jones were among the many Kenyan celebrities who stood in solidarity with the Gen Z protest wave on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, as thousands of demonstrators poured into the streets across the country to demand reform and accountability.
However, what was expected to be a peaceful display of civic resistance briefly descended into chaos, and the two artistes were subjected to rough handling by police officers during the Nairobi leg of the protest.
While neither Arrow Bwoy nor Khaligraph retaliated during the tense altercation, their composure has since been publicly applauded by fellow entertainer Oga Obinna, who issued a heartfelt message praising the two for choosing restraint over reaction.
Speaking candidly in a video shared on his Instagram on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Obinna recalled the moment officers whipped Arrow Bwoy and roughed up Khaligraph, actions he described as completely unnecessary.
“There are a couple of things that happened which were unnecessary — that police officer whipping Arrow Bwoy and roughing up Khaligraph and others, that was unnecessary,” he said.

Obinna said he was taken aback by the police aggression, especially considering the artistes’ peaceful presence.
“You are left wondering — this is Arrow Bwoy, my friend, and you are actually whipping him? And then you realise, had Arrow Bwoy and Khaligraph chosen to fight back, they would have beaten those officers badly. And today, it would have been a completely different story,” he noted, suggesting that if the artistes had responded, the narrative would have drastically changed.
He extended gratitude to Arrow Bwoy in particular, acknowledging the inner turmoil he likely felt in the moment.
“Arrow Bwoy, thank you for keeping your cool. I know you were burning with rage. I was watching it, and I was boiling inside, all right. But thank you, because they were just waiting for a small mistake so that today the headline would be, ‘Oh, they abused the police,’ and all that,” he added.
The comedian said the artistes’ calm reactions likely prevented a bigger incident, and he issued a public shoutout to both.
He noted that everything unfolds for a reason, admitting that had it been him in that situation, he is uncertain he would have maintained his composure — a reaction he believes could have landed him in far greater trouble.
“Arrow Bwoy, Khaligraph — shout out for keeping your cool. Honestly, things happen for a reason. I would probably be in custody by now, because I had not even provoked anyone,” he said, alluding to how unpredictable the crackdown had become.

Reflecting on the larger context of the protests, Obinna noted that the demonstrations were largely peaceful, with a united turnout by citizens — particularly the youth — demanding meaningful change.
He thanked all who came out, saying the scenes were beautiful as thousands flooded the streets in a powerful show of unity.
“Yesterday we went to the protests. It was beautiful. A lot of people showed up. And these are people who genuinely want real change. Thank you to everyone who came out, all the brave soldiers. Thank you. May God bless you. It is our country — we must protect it and keep it safe,” he said.
