Kenya Issues Safety Advisory to Citizens in Qatar, Israel, and Iran Amid Rising Tensions

The government has told Kenyans in Qatar to be safe after a hit by Iran on a U.S. air base the region.

On June 25, the Kenyan Embassy in Doha made a call for people to stay calm, listen to local safety rules, and sign up with the embassy for news and help.

“To all Kenyans in Qatar: In light of recent events, we urge you to remain calm and follow the official guidelines issued by Qatari Authorities. Qatar remains secure and responsive,” the embassy noted.

The embassy pushed how key it is to sign up for effective communication and emergency support. Kenyans can sign up online at https://kenyaembassydoha.com/registration.

This new advisory for Kenyans in Qatar comes one week after a like note to Kenyans in Israel and Iran by the Ministry of Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

On June 18, Roseline Njogu of Diaspora Affairs said the government aims to keep Kenyans safe amid the volatile situation in the Middle East..

“The safety and well-being of Kenyans abroad remain our utmost priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve,” she said.

The ministry told Kenyans in Israel and Iran to skip trips that are not needed, and be ready for new safety news.

The notice also advised Kenyans to closely monitor local media and official security alerts, follow instructions from local authorities, and keep essential documents and emergency supplies within easy reach in case of a crisis.
