Mumias East constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has broken his silence after Nairobi Member of County Assembly (MCA) representing Korogocho ward, Absolom Mombimba Odhiambo, alias Matakwei, boasted of beating him.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, just a few minutes past midnight, Salasya stated that the MCA was so lucky to have beaten the presidential hopeful and made away with it.
Salasya on revenging
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker, however, claimed that Odhiambo should be lucky that he reformed.
As a result, he says that he has forgiven the MCA for his actions.
“It’s good you are lucky ulipiga rais mtarajua ukaenda hivyo wewe ni bigwa. I’m just imagining if I was still that bad boy – Leo, hii ungekuwa a forgotten story – but nowadays I am just a harmless boy you can beat and do anything on me and I will still forgive you because I am a transformed boy,” Salasya stated.

MCA Odhiambo’s claims
Speaking during an interview with comedian Oga Obinna, Odhiambo claimed that he was the one who silenced Salasya from attacking Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
The MCA claimed that he had personally assaulted Salasya physically and warned him against talking badly about the former prime minister.
“Uliona vile nilichapa Salasya? Nilimchapa ngumi… Kwani alinyamazisha mdomo kwanini? Nilimguzaguza, na ni mimi, situmi mtu. Kama nimeamua ni mbaya, ni one man show…Ushaisikia akisema tena mambo ya Baba? Afanye kazi take huko Mumias kwa mamiwa,” the MCA claimed.
Loosely translated as: “Did you see how I beat Salasya? I punched him. Why do you think he went silent? I assaulted him, and it was me; I didn’t send anyone. Have you ever heard him badmouthing Baba? Let him work for his people in Mumias.”
Salasya attacked
Salasya was attacked and forcefully ushered out of the Nyayo Stadium in harrowing scenes on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Salasya was among the thousands of Kenyans who were in attendance at Kenya’s crucial World Cup qualifier match against Gabon.
However, the vocal legislator had an afternoon to forget, as his stay at the stadium was short-lived following an altercation with a section of the crowd.
He struggled to break free from an irate crowd who roughed him up and forcibly showed him towards the stadium’s exit.
