Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who doubles up as Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS, has revealed the details of his meeting with Turkana County Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai.
Taking to his official X account on Monday, June 23, 2025, Mudavadi stated that Governor Lomorukai had paid him a courtesy call at his office in Nairobi.
The former vice president said that they had engaged in constructive dialogue on deepening cooperation between the national and county governments.
“Welcomed H.E. Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai, Governor of Turkana County, during a courtesy visit to my office, where we engaged in constructive dialogue on deepening cooperation between the national and county governments,” Mudavadi stated.
Partnership with counties
Mudavadi went ahead to state that he had underscored the importance of the partnership between the national government and county governments in accelerating development and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens.
“I underscored the importance of this partnership in accelerating development, enhancing the quality of life for our citizens, and advancing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) as a pathway to more responsive and impactful service delivery,” he stated.

The 2010 constitution mandates cooperation and consultation between national and county governments. The partnership is crucial for effective service delivery and development, with both levels respecting each other’s autonomy and working together through various intergovernmental structures.
National governments have been partnering with county governments in various sectors such as healthcare, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment activities.
Mudavadi meets Buta
Mudavadi also met Ambassador General Bacha Debele Buta, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya. During their meeting, he was briefed on the evolving peace and security dynamics in the Horn of Africa.
According to Mudavadi, Buta also conveyed a message of goodwill and regional solidarity from Gedion Timothewos, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“Held a candid and insightful meeting with @ButaDubi, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya, during which he briefed me on the evolving peace and security dynamics in the Horn of Africa. He also conveyed a message of goodwill and regional solidarity from H.E. Dr. Gedion Timothewos, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirming our shared commitment to fostering stability, mutual respect, and strong neighbourly relations across the region,” Mudavadi stated.
