Mugirango South Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro has weighed in following the announcement by activist-turned-politician Morara Kebaso, who declared that he is quitting politics.

Taking to his official Facebook page on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025, Osoro expressed mixed sentiments, highlighting the challenges that come with public service.

While acknowledging Kebaso’s decision, the vocal parliamentarian told him that he had realised early that politics is not easy, and that realisation has helped him.

Morara on quitting politics

Osoro’s reaction comes after the civic educator activist, in a detailed statement posted on social media on Monday, June 23, 2025, declared that he has finally escaped the pressures of political life and is now ready to live freely without fear of judgement.

He expressed relief at being able to focus on his personal life, business, and travels without the constant scrutiny that comes with public office.

“Guys, I finally escaped politics. I can now live my life. I can do my biz, make my mulla, travel the world, see my friends, visit a bar and not worry about pictures. I’m free. Nobody can judge me if I dance the wrong way or smile the wrong way. I don’t need security. I can drive myself and race like hell. I don’t have to show up for TV interviews and get misquoted,” Morara said.

Kebaso stated that he will no longer attend media interviews where he risks being misquoted, nor does he need security escorts.

He added that he no longer cares about online criticism from individuals who, according to him, have not achieved as much as he has at his age. He made it clear that he owes no one explanations about his lifestyle or possessions.

He also noted that he can now worship and preach freely without being accused of seeking attention or pretending to be religious. Kebaso described his decision to leave politics as a much-needed relief, admitting that the pressure had pushed him to the edge.

“I don’t have to care about social media or negative comments from people who haven’t achieved half of what I have achieved at a young age. Wow. Exhilarating. Absolutely fantabulous. I don’t need to explain to anyone the cost of my shirt, shoes, car, or house because it’s NONE OF BUSINESS. I can worship freely and preach the word of God without anyone thinking I am pretending or chasing clout. It’s such a relief. I was almost going mad.” He finished
