Gachagua has now shifted his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) launch venue from Nairobi to the Maa region, with the event set to take place on July 7, 2025.

He made this announcement after a delegation of Maa leaders visited his Wamunyoro residence on June 23, 2025.

Gachagua pleaded with the Maa community to allow the party launch to be held in their region, explaining that it was initially planned to take place in Nairobi but was interfered with by the state, with the venue booking being cancelled.

This request from Gachagua attracted cheers from the crowd, who stood up in agreement with Gachagua’s proposal, with them carrying their herding sticks in the air.

He went on to say that his previous meetings were often disrupted by goons, but he believes that once the official party launch is held in the Maa region, there will be no such infiltration.

He further urged the delegation to scout for a private field where the event could be hosted. He also told the Maa locals that the DCP party belongs to them and that it is now their responsibility to identify a suitable venue, welcome visitors, and provide security.

Cancellation of Kasarani Indoor Arena

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) faced a significant setback when its planned launch event at Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi was cancelled.

The party had booked the venue for June 3, 2025, paying over Ksh3.7 million to secure the facility. Initially, the DCP sought to hold the event on June 4, 2025 but was advised by Sports Kenya, which manages the arena, to reschedule to June 3 due to availability.

However, Sports Kenya later informed the DCP that the venue was no longer available on the agreed date and cancelled the booking indefinitely without providing alternative dates.

The abrupt cancellation disrupted the DCP’s preparations for its high-profile launch, leaving the party without a confirmed venue.
