The meeting brought together various cadres of the party’s internal team, led by Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen, as part of a structured reflection on the work done so far and the priorities ahead.

“Party Leader @RailaOdinga today at Chungwa House had an engagement with staff and party officials on the progress of the party. The staff were led by Executive Director @ongwen,” ODM wrote on X.

Also present was the party’s Narok Chairman, Nalengoyo Torome, popularly known as Kaza Roho, who briefed Raila on the developments the party has been able to advance in the Patrick ole Ntutu-led county.

According to ODM’s X post, Nalengoyo also took the rare opportunity to invite Raila for a series of engagements in the county and to lead grassroots meetings across the region.

“Narok Party Chairman Nalengoyo Torome, aka Kaza Roho, today visited Chungwa House, where he briefed Party Leader @RailaOdinga on the development of the party in the county. He invited the party leader to the county for a series of engagements,” ODM posted on X.

Photos from the event showed the former prime minister in a candid and interactive session, speaking directly to staff members and encouraging continued commitment to the party’s vision and values.

Others showed him seated between party members and making poses, while others showed him arriving in a sleek black car accompanied by his close officials.

The gathering was seen as a reaffirmation of Raila’s direct involvement in the affairs of the Orange Democratic Movement, as the party continues to consolidate its internal structures while positioning itself for the future.

Raila’s engagement with the ODM secretariat comes at a time when internal party coordination and grassroots mobilisation remain central to the party’s strategic focus.

ODM on protests

The engagement has come just a week after the party strongly disowned a viral post that claimed party leader Raila Odinga had urged Gen Z demonstrators to suspend their planned protests and remain at home.

In the now-flagged graphic that surfaced online on Monday, June 16, 2025, Odinga was depicted allegedly appealing to the youth to refrain from taking to the streets in honour of the late blogger Albert Ojwang, with the statement framed as an official plea from the former Prime Minister.

“Let us allow the authorities to investigate and reveal what truly happened. I urge Gen Z to refrain from the protests being planned today and to remain at home,” the flagged post read.

The post further quoted Raila as saying that President William Ruto had assured him that justice would be served and compensation delivered to the family of the late Ojwang, as well as urging young people not to be misled by those exploiting the tragedy for political gain.

“I have spoken to His Excellency President William Ruto, and he has assured me that Albert Ojwang’s family will receive adequate compensation. He has also promised a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of this matter and ensure justice is served,” the post had further claimed.

However, the ODM party took to its official social media platforms and dismissed the post in its entirety, branding it as fake by superimposing a bold red “FAKE” stamp across the graphic, which bore Raila’s photo and what appeared to be a typed message attributed to him.
