This followed a mental assessment conducted at the National Training and Appeal Hospital after Mutinda defended himself innocent of the offense.

Why should Eric Mutinda not be charged at the moment?

According to a Citizen Digital report, the first -year student studying electrical engineering was found to have no mental health following a medical report submitted under criminal case number: E004 of 2025.

The report noted that Mutinda appeared to be dressed and was to some extent, but he spoke in a low and weak voice.

His history was unbelievable because he came alone without a close relative or relative who could provide additional information about his condition.

“He should not answer the charges now and we recommend a thorough history to be obtained from a close relative so that the assessment can be completed,” Said the doctor who examined him.

Despite the preliminary report, during the mention of the case on Monday, June 22, the judge ordered Mutinda to be returned to Mathari Hospital for a second mental health examination, accompanied by a close relative or relative.

The court is now awaiting a new mental health report before deciding the next step in the case.

The case will be recited again on Friday, June 27.
