Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has claimed that the level of betrayal he and others experienced under President William Ruto is so deep that, if they were to speak openly, the nation would be moved to tears.
Speaking during a church service in Buuri, Meru County, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Linturi, who referred to the president as “Kasongo”, painted a picture of hidden wounds and buried truths, saying the public only sees the surface but knows nothing of the pain those who once stood by Ruto carry in silence.
“You do not understand the man called Kasongo. What he did to us — if we opened up, people would cry. We would all shed tears. Even he knows. When he looks at me, he knows exactly what he did,” Linturi said.
Linturi went on to say that he and others who were once close to the president made a conscious decision to shield him from disgrace by staying quiet, even though the truth, if revealed, would shake the country.
He said that President Ruto himself is fully aware of the magnitude of the wrongs he committed against them and insisted that he and the others he was referring to had, out of respect, chosen not to air the dirty linen in public.
“We covered his nakedness. Kasongo, you know this. We hid what you did to us so the public would not see your shame,” he said.
He described Ruto as a man capable of deep betrayal, insisting that the burden of silence has weighed heavily on those who helped him rise.
“The shame we have kept hidden for you is too much. It is only that people do not know. But you know, and so do we,” he added.
Warning to Kindiki
In the same address, the DCP national organising secretary launched a scathing political attack against Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, warning him that President William Ruto will eventually use him and cast him aside.

Linturi accused the deputy president of being a mere pawn in Ruto’s political chessboard.
He cautioned Kindiki to be wary, claiming he personally witnessed the Head of State discarding those who once served him with loyalty.
“Mount Kenya East and West, we shall not be divided. And you, Kindiki, your only role seems to be that of a person being used. I have already, and I am again, telling you he will use you and then leave you,” Linturi said.
Mithika insisted that his warning came from a place of experience, stating that he knew President Ruto long before Kindiki rose to the national political stage.
He argued that the current deputy president should not be naive about his standing.
“Understand me, because I knew him before you did,” he said, referring to the Head of State.
