Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has raised concerns over comedian and humanitarian activist Eric Omondi’s recent decision to publicly display the mobile numbers of affected families during a fundraising campaign.
Taking to his official X account on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Amisi cautioned that sharing private contact information exposes vulnerable families to unnecessary risks.
He emphasised that such exposure could unintentionally endanger the families involved.

The vocal parliamentarian also advised the comedian to create a Paybill number whenever he mobilises for a fundraiser and allow Kenyans to contribute to the relief efforts without putting the families’ confidentiality at risk.
“My good friend @ericomondi_ _ displaying affected families’ mobile numbers in public in a regime that kidnaps, kills, or blackmails parents into submission is not correct. Avoid this level of publicity. Create a paybill no. And let Kenya test your trust,” Amisi warned.

Eric Omondi’s activism
Amisi’s advice comes at a time when Omondi has been at the forefront of voicing issues affecting the common mwananchi and launching fund drives to support victims through his foundation dubbed ‘Sisi kwa Sisi’.
The veteran comedian, leveraging his massive social media following to uplift the less fortunate, disclosed that his activism is all about giving back to the community
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the brand influencer went further and disclosed that he has been in the comedy industry for 17 years, and during those years, he had never visited a single children’s home despite receiving massive support from Kenyans as far as his creative work is concerned.

“I have been a comedian for 17 years, and while I was doing comedy, I am the most followed comedian in the country. This is what happened: I asked myself, ‘What have I ever done to give back to Kenyans? Kenyans have supported me, attended my show, bought my products, and cooperates have given me adverts, but I have never visited I children’s home,” he said.
The self-proclaimed president of comedy further stated that he is using his platform to fight for the rights of the voiceless Kenyans, adding that he is currently the most followed comedian on social media platforms in the country.
“So I said the best thing I can ever give back to Kenyans is my voice, is my platform to fight or to speak for the voiceless. That’s how it began with activism and also we do something called ‘sisi kwa sisi’,” he revealed.
