Comedian and media personality Oga Obinna has issued a stern warning to his fans, urging them not to fall victim to fraudsters who are impersonating him online to solicit money.
In a strongly worded statement shared across his social media platforms on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Obinna cautioned the public against engaging with anyone claiming to be him, even if they go as far as making phone calls to sound convincing.
He labelled the scam a dangerous scheme and made it clear that he is not involved in any money collection initiatives or personal fundraising campaigns.
“Do not send anyone money online pretending to be Oga Obinna. Even if you speak with them on call,” he warned, adding the hashtag #SCAM to stress the seriousness of the matter.
He directed fans to only trust his official social media pages, listing his verified Instagram handle as @ogaobinna, and his TikTok accounts as @ogaobinnatiktok and @ogaobinnatikktokk.
He also confirmed that his only Facebook presence is under @ogaobinna.
TikTok scam
The scam that Oga Obinna was referring to had been taking place on TikTok, where an individual using his name and photos was targeting vulnerable Kenyans by pretending to offer financial assistance.
According to Obinna, the impersonator had been luring people in need of help by asking them to send direct messages, promising to assist with rent, school fees, and business capital.
In a screenshot attached to Obinna’s warning post, the fraudster could be seen confidently claiming to be the real Oga Obinna while pushing messages that urged desperate followers to reach out for help.
The scammer, who was operating under the username ‘Oga Obinna TikTok,’ had written, “Do not be left behind. Say what you need so I can assist you with rent, school fees, or opening a business. Just DM me.”

Comments policy
The alert comes just days after the media personality vowed never to respond to interview questions about other people’s lives.
Speaking on June 9, 2025, during a surprise party held in his honour by YouTubers, Obinna declared that he will be holding his tongue when questions about other people are brought up.
“From today onwards, whenever I am doing any interview and I am asked a question that does not concern me, I shall remain silent,” Obinna said.

The media personality also added that he will only comment on other people’s matters when he is absolutely certain about the issue.
He further revealed that his team had also cautioned him against rushing to make comments about other people’s affairs and lives when he is invited or hosted for an interview.
“When I speak, I must be very sure. I have been advised by Omosh and the team that when I am asked, ‘Obinna, what do you think of…?’ I shall think nothing and keep quiet,” he added.
Obinna, during that time, also touched on how his vendetta with Amber Ray had escalated and jocularly warned the YouTuber who had lobbed the Amber Ray question at him during a red carpet segment of his show on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
“But when it comes to the lady, leave her alone. You see, matters involving a lady have stirred trouble. By the way, who was it that asked that question the other day? It was you. You have seen the case, and you have implicated me,” he added.
