Nairobi police have arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of terror-related activities after they found him in possession of explosive materials during a late-night patrol.
According to authorities, officers from Kamukunji Police Station became suspicious around 11:20 p.m. when the man exhibited erratic and evasive behavior. Acting swiftly, the officers stopped him for questioning and inspected the bag he was carrying.
A search revealed 21 detonators, 21 packets of a white substance suspected to be ammonium nitrate, and a five-meter-long electric cable, along with other potentially dangerous items. These materials are commonly associated with the manufacture of explosives.
The officers arrested the suspect on the spot and later transferred him to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) for further interrogation. Investigations into his intentions and possible links to extremist networks are ongoing.
The National Police Service has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining national security. Officials praised the alertness of the patrol officers, noting that their quick action may have averted a potential threat.
