Why was Samson Talaam deprived of bail?
On Wednesday, June 18, Mountains Magistrate Judge Ben Mark Ekhubi ordered the Talaam to be banned for 15 days to allow the investigation into the murder of blogger Albert Omondi Ojwang.
Ekhubi ordered the OCS to be detained at the Lang’ata police station to allow authorities to investigate the police performance (IPOA) to complete their investigation.
In his decision, the judge claimed that the prosecution gave enough reasons to justify the long -term barrier.
IPOA claimed that the suspect had an influence and authority, and the release could interfere with the investigation by the witnesses.
He added that the high title of divorce and long -term service in the squad gave him the opportunity to gain the ability to prevent him from accountability and to affect the investigation.
“Blue code is a common phenomenon in police ranks – even in authority like the United States. The suspect is leading the largest police station in the country and has a large network. There is a risk of reliability that he can interact with witnesses or evidence,” Ekhubi decided.
Talaam’s lawyer claimed that 15 days should be counted from June 13, the date he was arrested for the first time but the court ordered the time to be counted on June 16.
