Former Vice President, Rigathi Gachaguahe has strongly condemned the police act of shooting a peacekeeper who was protesting in peace, claiming justice to the killed blogger, Albert Ojwang.

The incident took place on Tuesday, June 17, when Nairobi was covered with chaos, police were accused of using excessive force against protesters.
The victim is currently lying in serious condition at Kenyatta National Hospital, with gunshot wounds, headaches, physical injuries, and asthma problems stimulated by tear gas.

Gachagua described the event as one of the most dark times for Kenya since independence, criticizing the current rule of undermining human life and pushing the country into international isolation.
He condemned the use of force against young people and peace protesters, saying those who were exercising their constitutional rights encountered power, property destruction, and even death. Gachagua claimed that the government used not only the police but also the hooligans who were sponsored to shut down the protest – a steps he said had embarrassed the nation in the eyes of the world.
“The whole world is now viewing Kenya as a deported nation,” Gachagua said.
In questioning the logic of shooting an unarmed businessman closely, Gachagua criticized security forces for what he called baseless brutality or security reasons.
Did Gachagua predict a conspiracy to destroy Gen Z?
He emphasized that he had already issued a warning about a conspiracy involving President William Ruto, governor of Nairobi Johnson Sakajaand security forces to release police brutality against protesters – a warning that is now manifested.
“I made it clear that there was a plan by the President, the governor of Nairobi County and the state agencies to release the police and the uniforms dressed to kill our youths. And now it is fulfilled,” He said.
Gachagua called on the government to explain why it seems to be referring to the blood of young people, emphasizing the importance of holding the perpetrators of the violence against the protesters. He called on the authorities to stop the violence, listen to the Kenyan cries and respect the constitutional rights of every citizen.

“How much blood do you need to shed to abandon Gen Z? Who were you waiting for the forgiveness of – Gen Z or his father Albert Ojwang? Stop this cruelty – it brings the most harm to our country. Listen to the voice of the people,” Gachagua added.

What else about the murder of Albert Ojwang?
- PC James Mukhwana, linked to Ojwang’s death, admitted canceling a telephone conversation with OCS Samson Talaam after being warned.
- IPOA told the court that the case was complex because the main perpetrators use the police authority.
- Three suspects allegedly tortured Ojwang to death were arrested while police found part of the damaged CCTV camera.
Why do Kenyans march?
Meanwhile, youths went into the streets to push for the resignation of Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat, linked him to the killing of Ojwang.
Police chief Douglas Kanja earlier said Ojwang was arrested for allegedly defrauding Lagat on the Internet for linked him to corruption and abuse of authority. When he was brought to Nairobi police station, Ojwang was handed over to the prisoners, who beat him to death.
Despite Lagat’s resignation for some time, Kenyans have continued to push for his departure, saying he is not eligible to hold the post with the call for accountability within the police department.
