Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has urged for patience as the investigation into the death of slain social media influencer Albert Ojwang continues.
Speaking during a presser on Monday, June 16, 2025, Mwaura maintained that the death has been taken up by various government and independent bodies for thorough investigations, urging for patience as probes into the death continue.
He specifically addressed the conflicting information arising from the various entities engaged in both the hearings and investigations into the death.
“The matter is being investigated by the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA). Already, there are parliamentary hearings going on in both the Senate and the parliament. It is therefore important to wait for those hearings and investigations that will ascertain the veracity of the matter instead of rushing to a conclusion over the matter,” he stated.
Mwaura reiterated the government’s commitment to serve justice for the slain middle-aged blogger.
“We assure you as the government that we will ensure justice is done,” he affirmed.
He also dismissed reports of a lack of empathy on the part of the government, specifically after the police service on Sunday, June 15, 2025, sent out a happy Father’s Day message to Kenyans.
The message was widely construed by Kenyans as a mockery in light of the ongoing sombre mood that has blanketed the nation.
“It’s not true that the government lacks empathy. As a government, we have been saddened by the happenings around the demise of the young man.
We again send our condolences to the family. Indeed, everyone has a right to life. We again say sorry to his parents and people close to them,” he said.
