Newspapers: IPOA officer helped delete data on CCTV in the case of Ojwang ‘murder

On Monday, June 16, national newspapers reported on an ongoing investigation into the brutal killing of bloggers by teacher Albert Omondi Ojwang.

The newspapers also highlighted the presidential remarks William Ruto against opposition towards the 2027 general election.

1. The Standard

The newspaper reported on a new development in the brutal killing of Blogga Albert Ojwang at Nairobi Police Station.

The Independent Police Observers Authority (IPOA) is investigating several senior police officers about their role in the killing of the blogger.

Among the investigators are Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat, OCS Benjamin Talam, Deputy OCS Samuel Ng’ang’a, six officers of DCI Arrested Ojwang, Constable Juma Mukwana, Central OCPD, IPOA officer, police spokesman Muchiri Nyagah and ICT technician Kevin Mutisya, suspected of deleting CCTV photos.

Detectives feel that all the people were involved in the murder and a plan to hide the truth, after police initially claimed that Ojwang committed suicide.

IPOA suspects Constable Mukwana as led the attack on Ojwang and also coordinated the damage to security equipment.

The IPOA technical officer is also accused of helping to clear the image, which is questionable the freedom of the investigative authority that should tell the truth to Kenyans about the one who killed Ojwang.

2. Nation today

The Swahili newspaper reported on President William Ruto’s position on resignation in 2027.

Addressing residents of Kakamega County on Sunday, June 15, Ruto insisted that he would never hand over the opposition, claiming that they had no plan for the country’s development except for ethnicity.

Speaking at a church service at Kivaywa Primary School, Ruto questioned the opposition’s intention, saying they had no open agenda for Kenyans.

According to Ruto, opposition led by his former deputy, Rigathi Gachaguayou are just focusing on removing him from power and you haven’t thought about helping Kenyans.

“These other people (opposition) have no plans, do not waste time for them. How will that help Kenyans and countries? ” Ruto asked.

3. The Star

The newspaper reported on the arrest of three civilians linked to the Ojwang killing at Nairobi Police Station.

IPOA believes the civilians were registered by senior police officers to torture the blog to death.

The three – Gin Abwao, Collins Ireri and Brian Mwaniki – were arrested on Sunday, June 15, in an operation in Nairobi.

They told the IPOs detectives that they were taken to the cell he was being banned for Ojwang for torture to report them.

This was after some of the suspects who were detained were released to give Ojwang a chance.

It is alleged that one of the arrested officers gave them even the special dumps they used in the attack.

The newspaper reported on technical errors in the new system of selecting professional currents for ninth grade students.
