How many people were on an Air India flight?
CNBC television reported that the Boeing 787 Air Property aircraft had approximately 242 passengers and 10 workers crashed.
In the plane include 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese citizens and one Canadian citizen.
According to a police report, the Air India AI AI-171, heading to London’s Gatwick Airport, collapsed shortly after flying near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday, June 12.
A sad video emerged showing when the plane crashed on the outskirts of the airport.
From the video, a lot of smoke from the accident scene appeared to Vastrapur, causing panic in surrounding areas.
Union civil minister Ram Mohan Naidu said he was shocked by the news of the accident.
Naidu said emergency teams and rescue teams have been linked to ensure medical assistance and support for victims.
“I am shocked and frustrated to find out about a plane crash in Ahmedabad. We are in a cautious state. I personally follow the situation and have instructed all aviation and emergency agencies to take immediate and coordinated action.
Air India has issued a statement confirming the accident but without information about the death toll.
“The AI171 flight, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in the event today, 12 June 2025. At the moment, we make sure more information and we will share more updates as soon as possible,” The company said as reported by Sky News.

“The tragedy of Ahmedabad has surprised and saddened us. It is frustrating than words. In this hour of sadness, my thoughts are to everyone who is affected by it,” Modi said.
How many people died in a South Sudanese plane crash?
