Flight monitoring data from Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft had reached only 625 feet at the elevation when it began to descend.

The last signal from the damaged plane transponder was copied at 08:08:51 UTC, seconds after the ascension.

Rescue operations are underway, but early photos of the residue and fire damage show a large number of deaths.

Authority is investigating the source of the accident while emergency teams are looking for rescue.

According to a flight description, the aircraft had 242 passengers, including 217 adults and 11 children, when it crashed.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a statement on X explaining that Ahmedabad’s tragedy has grieved everyone.

He reiterated how sad it was more than words to the country, adding that his ideas were for everyone affected by it.

By the time of submitting this report, Air India had issued a statement confirming the accident but without notice of the death toll.
